Effective date: September 29, 2026
This policy covers the Heart&Soul iPhone app and this Heart&Soul website. It does not cover other Heart&Soul Press publications, shops, or business activities, which may have their own terms.
Heart&Soul is operated by Lisa Reiley under the Heart&Soul Press brand, from Austin, Texas, United States.
This website is hosted using Google Sites and uses Google Fonts. When the site or its fonts are delivered, Google may receive basic technical information such as your IP address. Heart&Soul does not use this website to set cookies, store information in your browser, run analytics, display advertising, or track you across websites.
Heart&Soul is built to keep your practice private. Your journal entries, voice recordings, custom affirmations, favourites, progress, sleep history, streaks, goals, reminders and settings are stored on your iPhone. Your practice content is not uploaded to a Heart&Soul cloud or server. An account is optional; creating one does not change where your practice content is stored. Email sign-in involves the account information described in “Your Heart&Soul account” below.
Two things happen automatically that involve services outside the app, and we want you to know about both before you read another line:
Transcription: When you record a custom affirmation, Apple's speech recognition turns it into text. To do that, Apple may process the audio on Apple's servers. We never receive that audio and keep no copy of it on any server of ours.
Subscriptions: If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment, and a service called RevenueCat helps us know whether your subscription is active. Neither involves your journal, your recordings, or anything else you create in the app.Other information is processed only when you choose an account feature or contact us: email sign-in uses the account information described below, and if you email us for help, we receive that email and whatever you put in it. Support correspondence is explained in “When you contact support” below.
We do not sell your information, show you advertising, or track you across other apps and websites.
The following are written to your iPhone's own storage and are not transmitted to us:
- journal entries
- voice recordings you make, and the text transcribed from them
- custom affirmations and manifestation statements
- favourites across Meditation, Affirmations, Breathwork and Sleep
- progress, session history, streaks and goals
- sleep history and check-ins
- reminder preferences, personalization and app settings
We cannot read any of it, because the app never sends it to us.
Because this content lives on your device, it is subject to your device's own protections and to whatever backups you keep. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, that backup is made and controlled by you and Apple, under Apple's terms — not ours.
You own what you create. Your journal entries, recordings, custom affirmations and manifestation statements are yours. We acquire no ownership of them and no rights in them, and the app sends no copy of them to us.
So that the app can do what you ask, Heart&Soul reads, displays, plays, transcribes, exports and restores that content on your device, at your direction. That is the app operating on your own copy, on your own iPhone — not a grant of rights to us.
One thing your content does leave the device for automatically: the transcription described next.
An account is optional. You can use Heart&Soul’s core local practice features without one. Your journal entries, recordings, affirmations, favourites, progress and settings remain on your iPhone; signing in does not upload or sync them.
Email sign-in. If you choose to sign in, we use your email address to send a six-digit sign-in code and associate it with an account identifier. We use this information to operate authentication and account actions. Supabase provides the account service, and Resend delivers the sign-in email. These account services do not receive your practice content. Authentication and email delivery also create operational records used to run the service.
Signing out and account binding. Signing out ends the session on this device without deleting your practice content. Once this installation has been linked to an account, it cannot sign in to a different account. Signing out or deleting the account does not remove that binding.
Deleting your account. Go to Profile → Account → Delete account. Account deletion removes the account from the authentication service, not the journal entries, recordings or other practice content on your iPhone. It does not cancel an Apple subscription. The service retains limited deletion-request records to finish the request and report its outcome to the app; those records do not contain your practice content.
Recording happens only when you deliberately start a recording, and only after you grant microphone permission.
When you record a custom affirmation, the app asks Apple's speech recognition to turn what you said into text. That text becomes the affirmation's wording in your library. Apple may process the recording audio on Apple's servers to produce it. How Apple handles that audio is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
We want to be plain about the limits of what we can promise here:
- We operate no transcription service. The audio is not sent to us.
- We keep no copy of your recording on any server.
- The recording and its transcript are stored on your device.
- Whether a given transcription is processed on your device or by Apple's servers is decided by iOS and your device's capabilities. We do not control that choice.
You can decline or later revoke speech recognition permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition. If you do, recording features that depend on a transcript will not work, because the transcript is what gives a custom affirmation its text.
If you email support@heartnsoulpress.com, we receive what you send us. Support correspondence is separate from the optional account service described above. It reaches us because you chose to write; the app does not automatically email your practice content to us.
- your email address
- the contents of your message
- ordinary email metadata, such as the date, subject line and routing information your mail service adds
- anything you attach — screenshots, receipts, recordings, backup files or other material you decide to include
To answer your question, troubleshoot a problem, deal with subscription and purchase requests, keep the support records we reasonably need, resolve disputes if they arise, and meet legal obligations.
Only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. We do not keep support correspondence indefinitely as a matter of course.
Our email is handled by an email-service provider, Google Workspace, which processes those messages on our behalf so we can send and receive them.
You do not need to send us your journal entries, your recordings or a backup file to get help. In almost every case a description of what happened, your iPhone model and your iOS version are enough. If a screenshot really is the fastest way to show us something, please crop out or remove anything personal we do not need to see. We would rather help you without ever seeing your practice.
Heart&Soul offers optional monthly and yearly subscriptions.
Apple processes the App Store purchase and payment. We never see your payment card. Apple decides what purchase information it retains, under Apple's privacy policy.
RevenueCat helps us tell whether a subscription is currently active, so the app can unlock the right content. RevenueCat receives purchase history — what was bought and whether it remains valid — to operate that feature and to produce aggregate analytics about how the subscription is performing.
- RevenueCat identifies your subscription with a pseudonymous identifier that it generates itself. It does not directly identify you. Your optional Heart&Soul email account is described separately in “Your Heart&Soul account.”
- We do not describe this identifier as *anonymous*. It is persistent and associated with a purchase, so it could in principle be connected to a person through records held by Apple or RevenueCat. We would rather say that plainly than overstate it.
- The purchase information is not linked to your identity by us and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
- Your journal, recordings and personal content are never sent to RevenueCat.
We run no behavioural or product-usage analytics. We do not measure which meditations you play, how long you practise, what you write, when you open the app, or how you move through it. There is no analytics service in the app, and no crash-reporting service.
RevenueCat produces limited subscription-performance analytics — aggregate figures about purchases, renewals and cancellations. That tells us whether the subscription is sustainable. It says nothing about how you use the app.
Both statements are true, and we would rather show you how they fit together than let the first quietly imply more than it means.
Practice and sleep reminders are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. No reminder passes through a Heart&Soul server, and we do not use push notifications from any server of ours. Turning reminders off in the app, or in iOS Settings, stops them entirely.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not show advertising or work with advertising networks. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not run behavioural analytics. We do not use a crash-reporting service. We do not sync your practice content to any cloud service of ours. Optional email sign-in processes account information, not your journal entries, recordings or progress.
If that ever changes, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change takes effect.
Heart&Soul lets you export a backup of your app data. Please read this section before you use it.
- The export happens only when you ask for it.
- The file is handed to iOS's share sheet, so you choose where it goes — Files, AirDrop, email, or wherever you prefer. It is never uploaded to us.
- The file is not encrypted. Anyone who opens it can read your journal entries and play your recordings.
- Once the file leaves the app, it is yours to look after. We cannot retrieve, delete or protect it.
Looking after your backups is a balance, and it is worth being honest about both sides. Keeping unnecessary plaintext copies is a privacy risk — each one is a complete, readable copy of your journal and your voice. Deleting every previous copy is a recovery risk, because a newer file might be incomplete or saved somewhere you did not intend.
- keep only the backups you genuinely need
- store them somewhere private
- before securely deleting an older backup, confirm the newer file actually exists where you meant to put it, and that its size looks reasonable
- remove obsolete copies from email, shared folders and your device's Recently Deleted
Importing a backup replaces the data currently in the app. The app shows you what a backup contains before anything changes, and if an import fails it puts your previous data back. Because import is a replacement, it is not a way to check that a backup is good — please do not import a file simply to test it.
Microphone
Used only when you choose to record affirmations or manifestation statements. You can change this permission under Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Speech Recognition
Used to turn your recordings into text through Apple’s speech-recognition service. You can change this permission under Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition.
Notifications
Used to deliver the practice and sleep reminders you choose to enable. You can manage notifications in the Heart&Soul app or under Settings → Notifications.
All these permissions are optional. Declining or revoking one will limit only the feature that requires it; you can continue using the rest of the app.
Inside the app, you can delete journal entries, recordings and other content you have created. Deleting them removes them from your device.
Deleting the app: iOS offers two different actions, and they behave differently:
- Delete App removes the app *and* its stored data from your iPhone.
- Offload App removes only the app itself and keeps its documents and data, so they return if you reinstall.
If your intention is to remove your Heart&Soul data, choose Delete App, not Offload.
Even after deleting, please be aware of four things:
- a backup of your iPhone made through iCloud or a computer may still contain that data, under your and Apple's control;
- any backup file you exported still exists wherever you put it;
- records held independently by Apple (purchase and subscription history) and by RevenueCat (pseudonymous purchase records) are not ours to delete;
- anything you sent us by email is still in our mailbox. See below.
What we hold and do not hold: The app generates no copy of your content on any server of ours, so for everything created in the app there is nothing on our side to delete. Separate from your practice content, we hold the optional account information described above and any support correspondence you send us. You can delete your account inside the app. If you emailed us, we also have your message and any attachments you included. If you would like that deleted, write to us and ask, and we will delete what we are not required to keep.
If you have a question about the records Apple or RevenueCat hold, write to us and we will tell you what we know and point you to the right place.
On your device — your content stays until you delete it, delete the app, or replace it by importing a backup. We set no expiry and we cannot delete it for you.
Support correspondence — kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer your request, maintain necessary support records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
Apple and RevenueCat — purchase and subscription records are kept according to their own retention practices, set out in their privacy policies rather than ours. We do not control those periods and would rather point you to the authoritative source than invent a number.
Heart&Soul is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Its App Store age rating describes the suitability of its content; it is not a statement about the audience the service is designed for.
To use Heart&Soul you must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must agree on your behalf.
Everything a person creates in the app stays on their device. If a child uses Heart&Soul on a family device and records audio, Apple's speech recognition may process that audio in the way described above. Parents and guardians who would prefer that not to happen can decline Speech Recognition permission in iOS Settings, and we would encourage supervising microphone and recording use generally.
If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, please contact us and we will help.
Heart&Soul is available worldwide, and the app is designed so that your personal content stays on your device wherever you are.
For people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom: the app never sends your journal, recordings or progress to us. This section describes subscription records and support correspondence. Optional account information is also processed as described in “Your Heart&Soul account”; you can contact support about that information or use the in-app account-deletion feature.
Lawful basis: Performance of our contract with you — providing the subscription you paid for — and, for aggregate subscription-performance analytics, our legitimate interest in understanding whether the app is sustainable. That analysis does not identify you.
An honest limit on your rights: This record is pseudonymous, and we hold no name, email or account alongside it. In many cases we genuinely cannot tell which record is yours. Where data protection law allows a controller who cannot identify a person to decline to act on an access, erasure or portability request, we may have to do so — but we will always tell you that is the reason rather than simply not replying, and we will explain what we tried. If you can supply something that lets us locate the record, such as your Apple purchase receipt, we will use it to help.
Lawful basis: Performance of our contract with you where your message concerns a subscription; otherwise our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us for help.
Your rights here are fully actionable. Because you emailed us, we can normally identify you and find your correspondence. Rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection apply in the ordinary way, subject only to anything we are legally required to keep.
Transfers: Apple, RevenueCat and our email provider may process information outside your country, under their own terms and safeguards.
Complaints: You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top and publish the new version at this address. If a change is significant, we will do our best to make it noticeable rather than quiet.
